Welcome To Avilan Counseling in Oshkosh, WI
Named after St. Teresa of Avila, my counseling practice aims to help people discover their true self. While working on my Master's Degree in Community Counseling I read Teresa's mystical book, The Interior Castle. I was so inspired by her work that I have spent years mixing Teresa's work with current counseling techniques. I have found it to be an effective approach that helps clients obtain their goals.
The foundation of my approach is helping clients develop their self-knowledge and self-confidence. I firmly believe every person was born for a reason and has a purpose that is unique to each journey. I also realize we typically don't feel like we are unique and special gifts to the world. Often our truest and most authentic self is buried under years of social conditioning, family expectations and painful experiences. This, of course, leads to stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, confusion and more. My goal is to help you enter your own castle, explore who you were meant to be and discover your purpose; thereby clearing the way for contentment and happiness.
My own castle work helped me to discover I am a spiritual being having a physical experience. While spending time in meditation I often "receive" images or thoughts that help me make sense of the world. I offer these experiences in the form of a blog and will update my blog when the Spirit moves me.
Welcome to my castle, come on in and make yourself at home.
Love and Light,
Karen
"Each of us has a soul, but we forget to value it. We don’t remember that we are creatures made in the image of God. We don’t understand the great secrets hidden inside of us.” St. Teresa of Avila
