Today I am preparing to celebrate my birthday, the birth of my website and the birthing of my true self. As I am prone to visions, imagery and symbolism, it did not surprise me to have the classic scene of Frosty the Snowman saying, "Hap-PY Birthday!" flash through my mind. In fact, I found it quite comical and a bit divinely inspired.
I clearly remember being delighted each time Frosty placed the hat upon his head and began to dance around. Looking back I realize ... he made it look so easy! Find the right hat and PRESTO, instant life! There were a few hats that were duds for Frosty, but luckily for him there was magic in the air. If you recall, the hat was blown down the street, through the traffic, and stirred up in just the right way as to land atop his head. And then it hit me ... don't all of us have a magic hat? A specific cap made just for us, one that brings us to life and makes us dance and sing.
Just like Frosty I tried on a few dud hats. In fact, seven years ago I was wearing a hat that did not belong to me. It was too small, it made me itch and it didn't match anything I liked. But others had given me so many compliments that I kept wearing that uncomfortable hat. And then something magical happened, the wind blew just right and I glimpsed a new hat ... my hat. For the past seven years, I've been chasing my hat down the streets, into classrooms, out of jobs, into new relationships, out of old relationships, into new jobs and new houses and FINALLY my hat has landed on top of my head. And just like Frosty, when it was placed atop my head, I began to dance and shout..."Happy Birthday!"
